Reflection of a career in the hospitality
The first day when the program started, I felt anxious about learning specialized knowledge in English. Actually, my English level is not high, vocabulary to convey my feeling is not enough, especially I was poor at speaking in front of people. However, all of teacher from ILAC was always encouraged me, I was getting used to new environment little by little.
The most unforgettable class was Event Planning. We were assigned into some group, and made plan for wine tasting event which was competition with other classes.
So, I leant through this class, how difficult/ important teamwork is.
I think it is because we had distance each other. Even though we were classmates, only chat with close proper friends. No team project will work if you don't know each other very well.
Some students came into the class late, some students left class early, during team project, they did nothing at all…. Of course, there was some students like me having complaint about those situations. We should have had a meeting for improve our mood or vibes, but, as I mentioned previously, we couldn't take an action because we didn't build a good relationship. Also, I figured out having a leader is essential for keeping the team together.
The event was done somehow, but, it wasn’t a good event honestly.
Each student should have had responsibility for their own role, and should have been more proactive.
In any workplaces, we have to cooperate with other staffs. So that, communication skills or interpersonal skills are essential. I think team work is based on those skills, and if the team members are lack of those basic skills, team project won’t go well definitely.
