Customer servise strategy





    I would say the most effective customer service strategy is “suggestive selling”.


    I was convinced when I learnt this strategy, because it is very simple but effective for increase profit and it also gives good impression to the customer. If servers have knowledge about the menu and food well, they try approaching to customer as one of technique. I know some people take much time to decide what to eat, it is said to myself too. That is why, I am glad to know their recommendation, also it helps customer to enjoy spending the time at restaurant much better. 

    The mentor taught me, you should suggest desserts to customer. It lets the profit high and it means get tips more. However, the timing is the most important. It is too late to suggest when they have done their meal, they would say “Thank you, but I am stuffed”. To decrease ratio of this situation, suggestion should be when we are taking order. Even if they didn’t order it at that time, the information of desserts will stack in their mind while they are eating.


    Speaking of my experience, it was happened at restaurant. As my friend and I had finished our lunch, then I asked the bill to a server who was near me. However, the server asked us “Hey, you guys going to leave without our special desserts?” with smile. His suggestion was perfect (except timing) and we almost ordered some desserts at that moment. Unfortunately, we were both stuffed though, I think many people have accepted his offer. I was even more surprised because it happened right after I learned the importance of making suggestion.

    My teacher taught us the phrase “If you don’t ask, the answer is always NO”. I would like to keep these words in my heart and make use of them in my future work. This is a win-win strategy that benefits both our customers and ourselves.
